How I Made My Own Glitter Coloring Page

How I Made My Own Glitter Coloring Page

What do kids do with glitter? They use it, to their hearts content.  Not just one little spot of sparkle, but an entire explosion of glitter.  As the glitter took over a vintage radio diagram, I created a sort of coloring page, mixed media style for this Let’s Play video, all about rediscovering how to play.

In the video, you’ll also see how I deal with that left brain of mine when it tried to control the play while I was coloring in the page with watercolors!

Watch How I Made My Own Mixed Media Glitter Coloring Page on YouTube.

The glue I used can be found here and the tray used for catching the glitter is here.

How I Made My Own Glitter Coloring PageWhat is Let’s Play?  It’s all about rediscovering the ability to play. Each month I share a specific strategy that helped me recapture the freedom and fun of play.  This month’s theme is act like a kid. You can see more of the Let’s Play series here.

Now you’ve seen my play, let’s see yours!  Share what you’re creating with us all in the Facebook group and be inspired by what others are creating! And be sure to leave a comment here to get entered in the monthly $50 Dick Blick gift certificate giveaway!

I absolutely love this video. So different with the use of the colorful glitter and watercolors. I am adding this to my ideas for future mixed media art journal pages.
You have been a continued source of inspiration.

What fun! As always, I enjoyed your choice of colors. I’ve pinned a picture of this on my “Carolyn Dube” page on Pinterest. Keep the fun coming.

Forgot to say that I recognized (sort of) the radio wiring diagram. I remember seeing those, and have even watched my hubby use them since early in our marriage. He’s an electrical engineer, and we’ve been around a LONG time!

What is the name of the book of diagrams, and where did you find a copy of it? Hmmm…his old manuals are beginning to look like art papers to me.

Can’t remember where I came across this book, but it is loaded with those diagrams Barbara- how cool that you might have a big stash of these thanks to your husband!

While I am not a true glitter fan, I loved this idea! Keep up the good work.

PS … Loving the Dave makes an art journal page series.

Wow, do I love this blog! It is just what I need to help silence ( or at least subdue) that monster inner critic. Your glitter “technique” makes me smile.

  • Kristiina August 20, 2016, 9:12 am

Love the way the glitter also finds it way into the watercolour, can’t wait to see what this becomes!

I’ve been looking for a video about using glitter on coloring pages for ages now. Thank you so much for your demonstration, which shows that one should just have fun with it! Thank you!
