Using Free Stuff on the Gelli Plate

Guess what you can do with freebies from a hotel on a Gelli Plate!

Join me for a monthly Colorful Gelli Print Party! There is free stuff all around that is just begging to be used on the Gelli Plate!    A recent stay in a hotel room provided me lots of free goodies that I thought would be cool to use on the Gelli Plate!  So, for this month’s Colorful Gelli Print Party I decided to bring it all home and play!

Guess what you can do with freebies from a hotel on a Gelli Plate! What did I use?  A drink carrier from McDonald’s, bars of soap, and a mini bottle of shampoo.

The drink carrier made this print…after a little modification.

This print went from ho-hum to happy with just a few layers.

I love found/free stuff too! A friend in my knitting group brings me a bag of “trash” every week — interesting packing materials, empty soap boxes (she likes the fancy soaps that come in individual boxes, mesh produce bags, etc. I’m afraid we’re getting a reputation, but we don’t care! Coffee sleeves are one of my favorite texture tools — never realized how many different ones there are.

That is a reputation I can be proud of – I’m getting to be like a little kid who likes the packaging more than the item/gift it seems…I’m going to have to keep an eye on my coffee drinking friends for those sleeves or start drinking it!

Great use of free supplies. All the soaps we’ve come across in hotels have been square or rectangular, so find some with raised circles must have been exciting! Have you tried the ends of lemonade bottles too?

    • Carolyn Dube November 2, 2014, 5:14 pm

I have not, but now will be on the lookout for lemonade bottles!

Love it as always but it’s your enthusiasm that grabs me every time and makes me want to run to my table. I hope you realize what a gift you are giving us all. We can all appreciate a beautiful pAinting in a museum or a book but how really rarely do we want to throw down the iPad and run to the studio? Not iften but you a and your poppin personality and acceptance have probably sent many people to that happy place. That is something that you can go down in history for, proudly!!! Congratulations..love your work, joy and humanity.
