Thought I’d share the photos I took while making this journal page. I like to look back at what effect different elements had on my composition. Some things I will do again, some I probably won’t.
Art Journaling
An old game called Probe has given me so much. The cards just have plain letters on them so they were just waiting for some color…The rub-ons were a very important step for me -the hoarder in me wanted to save them since I LOVE them.
My last post showed you how to use a transparency with straight lines. For this page I used the same technique to make wavy lines for journaling. Start by slicing a transparency.Use your finger to smear paint on it. The first one I did was cleaner – I immediately did the 2nd one and I [...]
A leftover transparency made my black lines. Take an ordinary transparency. Notice this is a dirty, junky one. Use an Exacto knife to slice lines in it. Take paint and rub it around on top of the lines. Your paint will seep and be wonderfully splotchy in a random way. Here are 3 that I did [...]
Here’s the status of the art from my trip to Valley Ridge Art Studios for a the Raising the Bar weekend workshop with Michelle Ward: 2 are finished. These 2 are waiting – waiting for me to decide if I want to leave them as they are or add more. I usually add more than [...]

I used the leftovers from some chipboard I die cut recently and then just started inking, painting, dripping, gluing, and writing. This [...]
A page in process. I’ve been loving circles and arrows lately. Not sure where this will go next but I do know that I really wish I had a free motion foot on my sewing machine for this one….
This is my happy page right now. Wish the camera was able to capture the iridescent inks. Maybe one day there will be a way…The old Probe game (where the letter cards came from) has made me so happy!
I think I may need professional help. I’m hearing voices. The paper is starting to talk to me – perhaps I need to make sure I have adequate ventilation when I am using art supplies…This corrugated paper was a leftover from cutting a circle, and it begged me to put it in an art journal. [...]
Over at The Altered Page, Seth put out a call for stacks. He’d taken a photo of a stack of his journals which led to Heather Campbell from Blissful Things, to say ‘I love stacks of paper and handmade books…we should all take a picture of our own. Maybe Seth you have a place we [...]
