I really like your comments on what you are journaling. It doesn’t always have to be inspiring, just personal.

  • Phyllis May 22, 2015, 11:10 am

Brown is the color of chocolate. ‘Nuff said. 🙂

  • Arlene Abramson May 22, 2015, 11:15 am

That was me as a kid….I started ” are we there yet” as we left the driveway!!!

  • Terri D. May 22, 2015, 12:05 pm

It’s amazing what a baby wipe can do! I love to use them to clean up (Oh no! dirty word!) my used stencils onto a new page. I don’t go crazy cleaning, but all that paint wants to go somewhere else! I just pull the paint from the stencil to the paper with the baby wipe and then I have another page to play with later!

  • Becky May 22, 2015, 12:14 pm

Interesting when you ask “Are we there yet?” while going along on “A Colorful Journey”! I believe the answer is “Not yet!”, or possibly “Never!”.

  • Susann T May 22, 2015, 12:17 pm

Thanks for the reminder to use baby wipes and I really like the word stencil.

  • Mariane May 22, 2015, 12:39 pm

Your videos are so good! I learn so much when I watch them 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

  • Tommy McDonell May 22, 2015, 8:40 pm

Hmm. I noticed several things and I also have a question to ask.

On the page the “teal” color looks somewhat more teal or a drop more of blue than the video. But on my iPad and laptop, they both look more like mint. Is this because I ate one?

And no this is not my question.

I love the irresistible pico (incorrectly spelled) but some of mine either clog or leak and I can’t figure out what I am doing incorrectly. Can you suggest something other than telling me I am nuts?

My niece asks are we there yet. I on the other hand like to say “are we having fun yet”. But your videos are always fun.

    • Carolyn Dube May 23, 2015, 10:02 am

Minty breath means minty eyes…When you say the Picos clog…when I drag the Pico around I tend to pick up stuff in the tip like damp paint and that clogs it but if I just put the pin in the cap on and clean it out it works again. If I am working on a loose surface like oil pastels I can pick up a lot of junk in there as I drag it. As for the leaking from the sides I have not noticed a problem. If you are squeezing and the tip is clogged it may force it out the sides. Also, try wiping the threads off completely and inside of the screw on top part then put back together because once something starts to leak if it isn’t completely cleaned up it will continue to leak in my experience with lids and caps of all kinds. Hope this helps!

  • Mary Ann May 22, 2015, 10:46 pm

totally love this and all your stencils are real gems!

  • Laura May 22, 2015, 11:08 pm

I never really thought of using baby wipes for removing paint… does it work for all paints as long as they are wet or does it work best on a certain kind of paint? I may have to add them to my art arsenal.

    • Carolyn Dube May 23, 2015, 9:58 am

Any damp paint I have used it this technique with has worked with Laura. The drier the paint the more work it is to get this effect.

  • Abbie May 22, 2015, 11:34 pm

First time visitor – great to have another way to use baby wipes! Thank-you for the inspiration.

  • glo May 23, 2015, 6:15 pm

Love this — it reminds me of the many road trips I have taken with my parents and then many years later with my son. I can still hear the whine “Are we there yet”.
Thanks for creating this. Hope I win.

  • S@ndy Diller May 24, 2015, 10:53 am

  • Miss Iowa May 26, 2015, 11:08 pm

This stencil makes me laugh. When we were kids all of our family vacations were taken in a station wagon, and I bet we asked our dad this question a lot. Yet somehow we managed to survive until adulthood. lol

This phrase was popular with my kids when they were little and we were going to visit my parents. I taught them to count how many bodies of water we crossed before we got real close to my parents’ house. It was fun to hear them call out, “water #4” until we got to “water #7” which was the last one we crossed to get there

  • Susan Schultheis May 30, 2015, 10:59 pm

“are we there yet” was the forbidden question when we travelled from the South of France where we live to see our family in holland. 😉

  • Sue Pompetti May 31, 2015, 6:18 pm

    I really like the contrast!

  • Ek Prewitt May 31, 2015, 6:31 pm

These are such different colours for you – love it!

  • Gale May 31, 2015, 8:45 pm

The baby wipe stencil is the first one for me. I absolutely LOVE your video style. You get to the meat right away and make it so much fun. There are tons of videos on art products that end up as sales pitches with talking about how much the videographer loves this or that. In the art world you just want EVERYTHING so
no sales pitches are needed; just show me how it works. Now I’m off to buy baby wipes and am ordering the viaduct stencil (so cool!)

  • Amy Malla May 31, 2015, 8:48 pm

  • Heather B June 1, 2015, 9:52 am

I just can’t bring myself to buy baby wipes. I do like this technique, though. I’ll have to explore some diy/repurposing ideas to duplicate the result without the baby wipes.

    • Carolyn Dube June 1, 2015, 9:58 am

Just use a damp paper towel, should do the same thing Heather!

      • Heather B June 1, 2015, 4:04 pm

Thanks, Carolyn! I wasn’t sure if there was a specific ingredient in the baby wipes that make this technique work better than just plain water-dampened paper towels or rags.

  • faith harless June 1, 2015, 10:51 am

Loved seeing this done. Inspires me to get over my fear of that blank page.

I love the child-like attitude that you bring to you art. Not to say that it is negative at all! But rather it is the freedom that comes with youth. The attitude that you will do what you like because you can.

And I love the stencil and the ability to use it in so many ways…yeah for you!!!

Thanks for the fun and laughs I get every time I tune in.
