Unexpected Gelli Prints

Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!I missed the Gelli print party so much I decided to do it each month in 2013!  On the 1st of each month I’ll have a new Gelli something and the link party will let us all share our prints.  The next Gelli party is coming up on this  Friday, February 1st!  I am so excited to see what magic the Gelli Plate is making for everyone!  I’ve got a fabulous (if I do say so myself) new project and video for you on Friday, so be sure to stop back on Friday.

If you’ve watched many of my videos with the Gelli Plate you know I get a bunch of prints off of one application of paint.   When I am making Gelli prints I often have ghost prints. Sometimes more ghost prints than I anticipated so I just grab a paper and see what happens.  The Gelli prints I am sharing today were all unexpected delights.

The layers will build up and at some point in the process a paper just grabs my attention and I know it is time to set it aside- it is finished.

There is so much depth and detail in a layered ghost prints.  On these examples you can even see the texture of the canvas I had put on the Gelli Plate!   You can click on the images to get a closer look.

This one surprised me by how much the colors changed when I added the top layer.  I thought it was so light that it would get lost in it.  Nope. The Gelli Plate surprised me again!  Are you ever surprised and thrilled by what you create?

Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!

The  link party will be up on Friday, February 1st and will be up all month.  You are welcome to link up any Gelli print post that has not been linked in any of the previous Gelli print parties.  Can’t wait to see what you’ve been printing!

After the first Gelli Plate Party, I knew it was destiny…one of those moments when you say ….”come to Momma”! I ordered one and this past weekend, my best friend and I went partying on the plate…..lots of fun…cool prints!! I did my roll off in my large journal book and now they are the backgrounds for my brand new Dina Wakley Silhouette stencils….awesome does not describe it!!!!! Can’t wait to see more videos….neon paints are mind blowing on the plate…me and my best friend had to barter those prints with the neon paint!

Your prints are always so very pretty, mine pale very badly in comparison! But I find it so inspiring seeing what you do, I haven’t given up yet! What will you do with them all now? I have a big pile and not a clue as to what to use them for!

    • Carolyn January 31, 2013, 7:15 am

I’ll work on getting some posts about finished projects!

Yeah, so excited for another Gelli party! I had one last night and really worked on layers and color combos. I got the amsterdam paints that I see you use and I love them!!!

Another totally awesome “Gelli” post, Car0lyn! I am enjoying these so much–especially the close-up detail of these today. I was in my LSS on Sunday (obviously NOT Hobby Lobby!) and was so very tempted, but they only had the smaller size plate, and I know I would soon be unhappy with that. But, I do have a question: If you want to use these prints as background for a bound journal page, what are your options? Adhere the prints to the page in your bound book? Or, have you tried actually doing original prints onto your bound journal page? Inquiring minds want to know! 😉

    • Carolyn January 31, 2013, 7:16 am

I have pushed the journal right on to the plate. It works just like any piece of paper! I do glue pages into a journals- but I usually rip them or something like that. I’ll work on a post for it soon.

      • Kay Wallace February 2, 2013, 8:24 pm

Thanks, Carolyn! I am just inches away from buying one! 😉

  • Kristin Van Valkenburgh January 30, 2013, 6:36 pm

Oooh, brilliant! Everyone is talking about these plates – I HAVE to check out your video – okay, going now . . . thanks for the constant inspiration, xoxo

I played with my Gelli plate yesterday too but am not going to blog about it quite yet. Great idea to have a monthly party. I’ll have to put it on my calender to do. Thanks. Great prints and I love that box!
