Tossed Confetti Art Journaling

Scooping up and tossing this pile of leftover bits from a gel print project entertained me for longer than I want to admit. And it inspired a bit of play in my art journal! I’m not a patient person, so check out how I got these all glued down the easy way.

This could have been tedious to glue each piece of paper down, but I decided to go for the fast way, by slathering it with glue and the tossing the confetti on there. Words don’t do it justice, so be sure to check it out in the video.

Once the glue had dried, all that white space around the edges were painted. I actually entertained the idea of carefully painting around each piece of white paper. I let that idea go quickly because I had a better idea. And I’m just not that patient.

Those white areas are the backsides of the gel printed scraps. That means naked paper that is easy to journal on with any pen.

To create the title for the page, I wanted the word surprise but the stencil, Feelings and Emotions 2, had the word surprised. By simply covering up the d, I magically had the word I wanted.

I designed them this way to give you a lot of flexibility when using any of the stencils in the Feelings and Emotions collection (there are 3 of them)

Art journals are a great place to have fun so if you’ve ever got a bunch of little bits of leftovers on your counter, let go and toss them onto your page!

If you want more ways to have fun and let loose in an art journal check out my free workshop, Permission to Play.

Cute page! Thank you, Carolyn. I’ve pondered using little cut-off slivers of painted paper, and before it’s all said and done, I probably will. Love using similar cosmetic sponges. Though I just rinse mine off and use them over and over without cutting…. 🙂

The tossed confetti with blue surrounding it looked like an island in a beautiful blue sea to me. Great way to use leftover scraps! Could also shred a few colorful magazine pages if you are not a scrap keeper. Thanks for the inspiration.

I’m a scrap saver! If there is still room to punch a little flower or butterfly, it goes into the scrap box until there is nothing left. And, yes, I will never use them all up!

I love how playful you are. Throwing confetti pieces is my idea of a great journal page! Thanks for your enthusiasm and silliness!

I’m a thrower out.I still have boxes and tubs of scraps from when I started scrapbooking 20 years ago and I am slowly going through them. It hurts sometimes to throw them but I also have a donate box and that goes to the kindergarten to use so I don’t feel too guilty.

    Love the layout.

I watched this very early morning and just felt happy!! I save bits of every thing too – such a bright idea to brighten a blank piece of paper- love it…

I have absolutely no trouble throwing out anything that small. Any scrap that accidentally falls on the floor also goes right in the garbage. No matter how much I tell myself I am going to use those little pieces someday, I know I never will. So I just pitch them. Makes more room for the stuff I actually will use.

Ooh, ooh!!!!! Yes, I’m one of those people who keeps every single scrap of paper that “happens” while I’m playing. I’m as passionate about keeping my paper scraps are you are about using up every tiny smidgen of paint left on a gel-plate! Which means I have several boxes of them. Can’t wait to try this technique! Thanks so much, Sharyl

I cannot ever throw away my scraps from prints! This is a great idea Carolyn!
