Studios by Cloth Paper Scissors

I am a bit biased but page 120 is my favorite in the summer 2012 issue of Studios. Why? Because it is my studio!

But I have a confession- I must unburden my soul to all my friends from  Creative Every Day and Inspire Me Monday.  My studio never looks that clean unless it is being photographed for Studios.  Right now there are little bits of paper on the floor, spray ink on the counters, 15 tubes of paint are out, there is a stack of paper I am being inspired by,  stamps,  stencils, Portfolio crayons, well, I could keep going but I think you get the idea- it’s a mess.  The kind of mess that makes me happy.

Giveaways make me happy too!  Have you entered my giveaway yet?   I’ve got 3 vintage stencils ready to be covered in paint and ink.  Just click here and leave a comment by Friday to be entered!

Oooooh I have just downloaded the Studio summer magazine but haven’t had time to open it up yet. Can’t wait to see your studio. Messy studios are ones being used to make happy creative messes. 🙂

What a joy to see your work and be encouraged to use another part of my brain as I try to be creative! Time stands still when I am working on my altered books or trying out a new technique. Thanks for sharing!!

Well aren’t you the lucky camper!! My studio would NEVER make the cut even though I am totally organized and put things away once I have used them. The reason? It is too Plain Jane, vanilla, or boring for that magazine. And of course, I keep saying my whole house is my studio and it often turns out that way, too.

Anyway, congrats. Now if you weren’t such a tease!! I’m not going to pay $15.00 to see ONE page in that book (grin), but I am thrilled for YOU.

Congrats!! How very cool is that! I can’t wait to see it – and thanks for the vintage stencil giveaway – I have been wanting to play with stencils for so very long but never seem to be able to justify the purchase…. ooooh… pick me!! :0)

I am a huge fan of CPS and especially their Studio issues. I am even more excited to see the summer issue now!!!

I am SUPER excited about your giveaway. I have been trying to track down vintage stencils for what seems like forever and they are so HARD to come by – at least that is what I have found. I would absolutely LOVE to win these : ).

I haven’t picked up my copy of Studios yet – now I have an extra reason to go to the bookstore! Congrats on the feature. And who wouldn’t love to get those stencils – I’m on my way to leave a comment there too.

Oh how exciting, can’t wait to pick up my copy! xox

  • Currie Silver May 21, 2012, 5:08 pm

yay for you!! I’m pretty sure we’d ALL clean up our studios for featuring in a magazine, but every single one I have seen there and in other publications always makes me laugh BEcause the artists have definitely cleaned up for the shoot!! I used to enJOY going to open studios when I lived in Sedona and I got a good sense of how impossible it is to make art and keep a studio clean at the same time.

I recently cleaned up the walls of the Wee Cottage [I said they looked like a rainbow had thrown-up on them] and have lived awhile with their “nekkedness” and am slowing adding my paintings to them. It is quite interesting how that little change has shifted my focus, too!!

Now we can all say we “knew you when”. Yea for being in Studios! Can’t wait to see 🙂

  • Cynthia May 21, 2012, 7:50 pm

  • Cris, Artist in Oregon May 21, 2012, 10:23 pm

Congrats for getting in the magazine. I am going to have to check it out. Its hard to keep a perfect studio if you are working. I dont even try anymore. :))

  • Tamoonstone May 22, 2012, 7:11 am

I’ve not heard of Studios Magazine before – so I am off to google and explore it right now. Congratulations!

Congratulations on the Studios spread. We all know a clean studio is a rarity. I agree, show us a few creative storm photos!

  • Harriet May 22, 2012, 1:00 pm

Oh WOW!!! Congratulations, that’s awesome! xo

  • Lorraine Parkinson May 23, 2012, 11:53 am

I’m glad you confessed to having a studio that isn’t always picture perfect! I KNOW I’m not the only one that creates a mess when I’m working … but sometimes I get intimidated by those oh-so-neat-and-perfect studios I see in magazines! LOL!

  • julie m May 23, 2012, 3:46 pm

congratulations on the pub. will definitely have to take a look. i am sure every studio in the mag had been cleaned up for the photos and is back in useful mode again. don’t know any artists that have spiffy clean studios all the time. seems contradictory to creativity.

  • Paula - Buenos Aires May 23, 2012, 10:29 pm

Have you walked in into your studio and looked at the pages while standing there? It must be thrilling. Congratulations on being featured. Enjoy your happy place. 🙂

  • elle May 24, 2012, 8:06 pm

Just found your blog and I like how you do things. Looking at studios is fun but not sure they are like that in reality. Mine sure isn’t. Congrats and thanks for opportunity to win something!

  • Donna May 25, 2012, 7:24 am

    Congratulations. That is an honor.

  • june in Ireland June 2, 2012, 3:04 pm

Congratulations! That’s brilliant that your studio is featured in this magazine – speaking of which, I’ve got to get a copy of it somehow, some way. I’m in desperate need of re-doing my workspace. Although I know where everything is, I need to make better use of the empty wall space and just re-organise it, as it’s only a small area. Thanks for sharing, and well done on getting featured.
