Strawberry and Lemonade Ice Cream Inspirations

Strawberry and lemonade ice cream was the inspiration behind this week’s Summer of Color fun!  Yet again this week I was stumped as to what to do so I turned off my brain and let the colors take me on a journey.

About half way through the process I picked up my new stamps from Donna Downey and I couldn’t just pick one to stamp on my page- so I picked many.  I had been stuck and just reading the quotes moved me forward.  Thanks Donna!

This page is how I keep from being frozen by a blank page- when I colored my punched shapes with paint I did it on another journal page. When I stamped the word stamps to make sure I had them facing the correct way or to clean off the stamp I added it randomly around.  No idea where this will go but why waste paint or ink.  It will probably be buried under many layers but now I have a place to start on that journal page.

There is such an abundance of ways to start the week with creativity on the web!  Stop on by Creative Every Day, Inspire Me Monday, Art Journal Every Day, and The Summer of Color for loads of artistic goodness!

Hi Carolyn! Another lovely page–and video recording your process! I love the quote stamps you used–a great way to get the look of vintage typewriter into your journals!
The quote, “Don’t be pushed by your problems, be led by your dreams” really spoke to me. I recently told my parents about my plans to go back to school and pursue a degree in graphic design, and unfortunately I’m hearing a lot of of “warnings” about how I may not be able to handle my classes along with my full-time job, which I need to hold on to for the next few years. I know it’s going to be hard, but I feel like if I focus on the end goal I can deal with whatever chaos ensues.

I LOVE the way you did your page- amazing use of the colors and shapes and textures! I always mean to have papers to the side for excess paint- after seeing yours, maybe I’ll actually do it!

  • Pauline Leger July 4, 2012, 11:04 am

Carolyn, this was so cool!! Whenever i visit your blog, i find myself smiling before i’m even THERE!! 🙂 Your work is so much fun and i loved the video. Wanna know what my favorite section is?! It’s one of the last things you did – that red crayon scribble around the quote. That little thing, to ME, ties the whole thing together. I love it. Beautiful work! xoxo

    • Carolyn Dube July 4, 2012, 11:25 am

Thanks! It probably won’t surprise you that I had the most fun of the entire page doing that scribble.

  • Shahrul Niza July 4, 2012, 1:21 pm

It’s all gorgeousness. loveliness. happiness. such happy colors, great artsy stamping (i’m a fan of donna too), and I love how you wrote ‘TRUST’ the most. LOVE.

  • Liz July 4, 2012, 1:58 pm

I am amazed at how you let the colors guide you. I liked seeing it partially done as well. Would love to see shots of your creations step by step. It’s such a joyful picture!

Awesome colors–that strawberry shade is calling my name! And I loved the video (as usual…they’re so much fun)–but I admit I had to giggle at the ‘moving flower shapes around’ part because I could totally relate 🙂

  • Bleubeard and Elizabeth July 6, 2012, 7:14 pm

Here it is Friday and I am just now visiting. I had a computer meltdown and went out of town all in the same week. Not a good way to keep up with my blog friends.

You picked a great way to get unstuck. I really like what you did with the colors and how you allowed them to guide you. And of course, your scribbles were fun and your video was a joy to watch, too.

  • Tracey Clem July 6, 2012, 9:57 pm

LOVE the yellow and pink combo! So vibrant. And I think the paper in the center of the flowers really makes them pop. Napkin? Great idea!! Love your videos…thanks for sharing!
