She’s Growing Up Right Now

I looked at my girls today and realized that they are growing up and I like who they are becoming.  They are growing up right and right now.

A background made of paint &   a scrap of inked map glued on long ago.  This was a forgotten background until I was sparked today to use it.

I wanted to use Dina Wakely’s stamp but the base was too dark- no problem- just a bit of gesso and yellow paint to lighten it up.

Dina’s stamp in blue Brilliance ink.  The touch of blue at the bottom of the page is where I cleaned the stamp off.

Giant foam letter stamps

The text is a full sheet of rubber by Invoke Arts called Collage Words.  I used Distress ink so that I could easily rub it off the n in now with a wet q tip.  The numbers are a stamp by Stampers Anonymous.

I painted with a bit of orange inks to highlight the writing on the stamped image.

Grey Pitt pen to outline the letters

2 colors of paint for the journaling (this helped me get over my dislike of my handwriting)

There is lots of great art over at Paint Party Friday!  Stop by if you get a chance!

Hi Carolyn, how lovely that you appreciate what your kids are becoming. As mothers we are given a rare privilege, aren’t we? Our children are our masterpieces! I like your journal page, and also the one with the butterfly in the post below. So colorful! And I appreciate your writing too! Patsy from HeARTworks

There’s got to be something wrong with me that I can’t see the potential in stamps and stencils the way you do. It’s almost like magic when you apply your art to your journal pages. You always make them look so great from start to finish.

I love getting to see the progress of the page!

My littlest girl is going to turn 13 this fall, and my big girl is going to be a senior this year…It just goes so fast, doesn’t it?

Love to see how you manage to get the finished product. It is amazing. There are so many things to do with differing supplies and how they come out. Blessings, Janet PPF

I like how you are growing in your work too! Just beautiful, every time I visit I just feel so good inside at the authenticity I see in you. Kids, blink of an eye, wow, and they are adults, but it warms the heart to know we like them, we like who they are and who they might become. xox

What a great page! I especially like to see the page’s origins. I have many pages in my journals that I’ve started but haven’t yet determined out how to finish, and I love to see the process you followed to transform the page start to the finished product!
