Relaxing with Leftovers

I had all sorts of leftovers.  Pretty bits, punched shapes, die cuts, digital goodies I’ve printed out, well, you get the idea.  The box of goodies was getting a bit full so it was time to use them.  I just started randomly gluing the parts down.  This was also incredibly therapeutic!  No intention, no pressure, no rules.  Just the fun of gluing junk down and being surprised by how pieces worked together.

I have no idea what I am going to do with this but it felt good to get glue on my fingers. And pull it off when it dried.  Took me right back to elementary school.

Some parts just call to me to be cut out and used in another project and some parts beg me to be gesso’d over & slathered in paint.  I am once again amazed at how isolating part of a collage changes it immensely!  Have you ever noticed that in your art?

I love how you managed to still have a focal point and flow in this.

Your collage looks great, I often do ‘leftover’ pages for my journal, always fun! Valerie

Oooh, I love it and totally agree with the first comment. I remember when I started mixed media it was always with an intention and of course, very frustrating. Now I can practise it only because I love it, even if i don’t have a project in mind and it does me a lot of good!

I love this process too, something about letting the mind wander while you just glue and move your hands, a meditation this piece is, beautiful. xox

This looks like you had so much fun! There truly is something amazing about paint and glue and no expectations–and I believe we all could have done a little more kindergarten time, making art!

*smiles and nods head in agreement* Glue on the fingers. Peeling glue off the fingers. Yessssssss. 😉 I love the page. It’s like a whole novel on one page. The many, many stories it tells. Wonderful!

I love making cards and I could see any of those focus shots as a pretty card front. Joe from Cheap Joe’s Art Supply does that same kind of thing with paintings that didn’t work. He finds pieces that he can cut out and use for card fronts. So cool! This was a great idea. 🙂

What a great idea to use fabric to do this. I am going to have build up my fabric scraps!

This is a beautiful piece. The first thing that I saw was the word happy and that is how I felt when I looked at your collage and how I imagined you felt creating it. It is such a happy piece of art. Thank you for sharing it.

what a great idea! I very rarely do ‘leftover’ pages IN my journals, and I do hate to throw away all those little ‘bits and pieces’ so this is a good way to use them. I will definitely be doing this!

I love this! It’s so random and pretty and creative! I’m a firm believer that you should always exercise your inner randomness, and this looks like a great way to do that! Awesome work! 😀
