Let’s Play and Turn a Washer into a Mixed Media Necklace

Video sharing how to turn a cheap metal washer into a mixed media necklace for this week's Let's Play link party by Carolyn Dube Let's Play, a link party where you can be inspired and be inspiring!

22¢.  That’s a price I can get excited about!  This metal washer was only 22¢ so a handful cost less than a gallon of gas!

One of the ways I found to help myself play was to use things from the hardware store.  They’re often cheap…like today…I can get as many I could possibly want, and there is no pressure to use it correctly since I am not doing any home construction here.  I am making a mixed media necklace!

As I turned that washer into a colorful necklace for this week’s Let’s Play link party, it became a necklace of gratitude.  A count your blessings type of necklace. The numbers each represented something I am thankful for or some memory associated with the numbers. So as I wear it, I am reminded of all the every day things I have to be grateful for in my life.

And I even clean off a stencil in the video…but that is just to not waste paint…

Here are the supplies I used. Some of these links are affiliate links which means I get a small percentage. It doesn’t cost you anything extra and you are helping me keep this blog and my videos ad free! Thank you- I don’t like ads any more than you do!

This necklace is the one I thought was horribly ugly at one point in the video, and it turned out to be my favorite!  That happens quite a lot to me.

Now you’ve seen my play and I’d love to see your play!  What play can you link up?  Any play- it doesn’t have to follow this month’s theme because play just doesn’t have a lot of rules.  And you get a bonus entry into the monthly $50 giveaway every time you link up!

This weekend I looked at the washers in the store but didn’t buy them, might go back to get some now, lovely mixed media work. You had me smiling at shimmer and shine, is currently a new favorite cartoon of my son.

Brilliant idea – I would have never thought of it! Love how you’re already wearing one of your creations in the video! Incidentally, I’ve just bought a bottle of that liquid glass and I wasn’t sure what to use it for!

These are so adorable. I love all of the ones in the photo but my favorites are the ones that are greens and blues. I like the photo of you wearing one too. 🙂

You made them so pretty! I love that you didn’t give up. Adding more colors to the orange one worked perfectly. I’m totally inspired to make some of these now. 🙂

I am loving this hardware supply segment this month because there’s nothing as fun as taking something ho hum and utilitarian, and turning it into something beautiful! That washer necklace looks fun and easy!

Thank you for your creativity and they turned out very cute. I am a girl scout leader to 7th graders, we are going to try this at our next meeting. After that, if they like them we will make more to donate to an art exhibit that sells creative art and money goes to a Children’s Hospital cancer unit. So hoping the girls have fun making these and want to do this for the art fair!! Keep on playing and thank you for sharing! God bless

    Thank you!

I am brainstorming ideas for easy ladies crafts and found your ” Let’s Play” . Thank you. I think I’ll use this one. What kind of paint do you use? How long does it take to dry?
