Guess What I Did with my Empty Tubes of Paint

She's got a video showing a fun way to use up every last drop of paint in the tube!

Guess what I did with my empty tubes of paint…I put water in them. Something simple that led to a whole lot of play.   This created a very very watery paint in the tubes which was just perfect for squirting, flinging, and dripping.  On a sunny afternoon I headed outside and made colorful splots of paint!

Watch Guess What I Did with my Empty Tubes of Paint on YouTube.

I’m letting the color fly through the air on a large pad of watercolor paper but this would work on any paper.

Now I have a great stash of papers to cut up for an art journal or a collage but it will be a while before I use them….why?  Because I like looking at them just as they are right now!

What fun! I also really like that first pic with the turquoise in mid-splootch!

What fun! Your post reminded me of when we did painting with squirt guns with Girl Scouts. I can still remember the laughter and fun and creativity. This must have been 30 years ago when my daughter was young. (Would you believe none of the girls squirted each other with paint; that was our biggest fear as leaders.)

Wow. I can’t wait to try this. I don’t even know if I have any of this type of tube, but I sure wanna get my hands on some. Great idea 🙂

Do you have any helpful hints on how to get the water into the tube? (And thanks for giving me a reason to hang on to more “used up” stuff!).

First I take the big cap off and then I run the water from the faucet. I do a small stream of water that will fit inside the hole. Fills it right up! Hope that helps Melinda!

What fun! I may have to try that with some of my old craft paints I’ve had for years. It’s that “you never know” mentality. Could be enough in there to mix a color I really, really need. Thanks for the spark!

I understand just what you mean . . . the colors and splots and drips are beautiful, exciting, moving ART just as they are. Enjoy them before you cut them up for your art journal.
