Foam Board Paint Brush Holder

Stencil and Foam Board paint brush holders by Carolyn Dube FBXpress_logo

My colorful box of foam board arrived from Foam Board Express and I started playing.  Not my usual art journal play but 3-D play.  A fun colorful stenciled paper wrapped brush holders came out of the fun.   This is a blog hop so that means there’s lots more to see- be sure to check out what all the artists made and be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win the prize package!

Andrew Borloz's Cityscape StencilGirl Stencil

Can you recognize some of the stencils?  It’s Andrew Borloz’s Cityscape in black.  There’s a hint of Maria McGuire’s new Butterfly and Michelle Wards Circle 6.    And all sorts of bits and pieces of other stencils brought in a touch of color.

Stencil and Foam Board paint brush holders by Carolyn Dube

There is no bottom to these.  I just wanted a colorful way to store my paint brushes and the bottom just wasn’t really needed. Plus I would have had to have used a ruler to make a bottom that worked.  And you know how I feel about having to measure…

To help them stand easily I just glued them together with hot glue.

The Prize Package for one lucky winner includes:

Foam Boards Edge Group

From Foam Board Express, five 20×30 inch foam board sheets. One black, one white and the winner picks the other three colors!  Color choices include:  green, red, yellow, dark blue, neon yellow, neon orange and neon pink.

How can you enter to win?  By leaving a comment.  Each person is eligible to leave a comment on every blog in the hop!  That means 10 chances!  Winner will be randomly chosen and announced on StencilGirl Talk.

  • Sandy Karsten November 12, 2013, 10:26 am

Foam board was probably made for kids – but us BIG kids can play too!! Great project!

  • Suzanne R. November 12, 2013, 1:42 pm

I love this idea Carolyn. I wondered how in the world you got that micro cityscape on there then I saw the stencil. Had no idea they made them that small… awesome. tfs

btw you can trace the bottom of your holders now they are glued together onto your foam board, cut it out and hot glue the base onto your holder – no ruler needed except for cutting out if you want. ;D be blessed, Suzanne

  • Glenda Lovchik November 12, 2013, 3:17 pm

Those colors are fabulous. How did you miter the corners? I’ve never worked with foam board before. My brushes are all crammed together in a spaghetti sauce can right now. It would be nice to have them separated by size and type.

  • Sandy M November 12, 2013, 9:34 pm

Thanks for the idea. I never realized foam board had so many possibilities.

Fun diy project, I made mine with bottoms and added rocks to prevent my brushes from falling over. The only thing is that its hard to use when working with wet brushes.
