Getting to Know Dylusions Paints in my Art Journal

Video exploring how Dylusions paints work in my art journal

Happy day! My box of Dylusions paints arrived!  I am a huge fan of Dyan Reaveley and her rainbow of colors makes my soul happy.  This is my first time using the paints and I wanted to take them out for a spin to get to know how they work for me.

Watch Getting to Know Dylusions Paints in my Art Journal on YouTube.

So after playing with them what do I think?  They are dreamy creamy.  A little paint goes a long way.  They blend extremely well. They behave well with water.  They are the perfect surface for journaling.  They are just the right balance of opacity/translucence.  Well done Dyan!

I just love those paints and maybe someday I can get some. You make us want to buy them all. They are great. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. Those paints do look great! I’d love an acrylic that you can write over. I usually just write first or use watercolor. Thanks Carolyn

I love, love, love the journal page you did with Dyan’s new paints! The colors are just beautiful and everything on the page fits together perfectly.

Thanks. Just got my Dylusions paints today; and they are gorgeous! A bit pricey, but may be worth it. Had not thought to try white pen on them yet. Thanks for the tip!

So agree! These are YUMMY!!!! Thank you for all the testing so I can just dive in and play! First up…watering them down a bit with water to try that look 🙂

I was utterly shocked at this price of these paints. You can buy colors just as bright and strong in Liquitex and Golden getting more for LESS. I hate this kind of personality marketing. I won’t be a victim but others are buying it in droves. BUT I’ve learned to see all your vids because you make an effort to push a product to see what it really does. Being able to write on this paint is the first and only reason I personally have to consider buying it. I assume part of the reason is that it does not dry glossy, is that true or something else?

It did not dry glossy at all, it was a matte feel to it when it was dry. I’m just getting to know these paints, so as I learn more I’ll share. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the review! I got a set of these paints as a gift. Anxious to see if you’ll be trying them out on your Gelli Plate. I have done a few coasters with them then sealed those with clear gesso and then embossed over them with UTEE . Paint did not run but the coasters may have absorbed a lot of the paint as I believe Dyan says that there isn’t any product that will not reactivate her paints.
