Backed Into a Corner in My Art Journal

Backed Into a Corner in My Art Journal video by Carolyn Dube

In the process of making a pattern with  Thanks A Lotus  I backed myself into a corner. But you’ll see that if I back myself into a corner, I can get myself back out.  The tragedy was averted (pretty easily too…) as I played with Andrea Matus DeMeng’s incredible stencil for this jumbo blog hop celebrating her designs at StencilGirl!

Watch  Backed into a corner in my art journal on YouTube.

The color on this page came from cleaning my brayer while Gelli printing.  I love to use every drop of paint so my journals are loaded with pages like this.

I stenciled Andrea Matus DeMeng’s Thanks a Lotus stencil randomly.

I didn’t plan how I was going to build this pattern.  In the video, you’ll see that got me into a bit of a corner, but if I can get myself into a corner I can get myself out of a corner…once you see the video you can probably spot it here very quickly…

More color. That is all I kept hearing in my head as I played.  More color. I hear that a lot but if you probably could have guessed that!

Really loved the solution to your corner — you are right, I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t said something about it. Also liked how you boldly continue to paint while other paint isn’t dry — SO daring :-). Where do you find used ledgers like this to paint? Thanks for the great video!

    • Carolyn Dube April 6, 2014, 7:46 pm

  • terrie: creative explorer April 9, 2014, 12:30 pm

Carolyn….. I had a comment from my blogging buddy Jo who congratulated me on winning the small stencils but I can’t find where winners have been announced….I lost the last couple days of emails so if anyone emailed me, I didn’t get it. I don’t want to miss out if I did, in fact, win. I wasn’t sure who else to email since yours is the blog I read most regularly – I did check the Stencil Girl site and didn’t see anything and none of the blogs seems to have announced a winner date, so – sorry to bother you but hope you can help.
