Using the 3 Second Rule to Get Unstuck

I had a blank canvas in front of me and I just could not make a decision on how to begin.

Paint or spray ink or watercolors?  Stencil or collage or sketch?  Blue or green or purple?

The questions just kept coming.  I was completely in my head.  Frozen. Not a decision could be made.

I turned to my friends over in A Colorful Playground.  I pulled up the Google+ community on my computer.  I looked for 3 seconds and whatever grabbed my eye, I had to use some element of it.  Only allowing 3 seconds thwarts that over active left side of my brain so I can actually get busy creating!

Check out the video to see how I did the Hokey Pokey, centered a word with an index card, and let A Colorful Playground get me unstuck!

Here are the posts that helped me get unstuck from some very creative women!  You can check out all the creativity and inspiration over at A Colorful Playground.  If you’re new to Google+, don’t worry, we’re all learning it!

I’d love to know if you ever get stuck when you’re creating.  Let me know in the comments how you handle it if/when you get stuck!

Great video as always Carolyn and really love how you pulled inspiration- I can’t imagine you ever being stuck for inspiration! hugs “)

And by putting them on the wet paper towel they basically clean themselves! Do you mean the bottle with the long metal tip? I’ve got a link to those in the supplies used – they are the Fineline Applicator.

These stencils are so gorgeous that I would just use a piece of dark beige watercolor paper, lay the stencil down & color with acrylic paints on a Gelli Plate. Once dry, I would then use a micron black ink pen to outline & highlight the parts of the stencil that I want to stand out (probably the words). I would then frame the pieces, probably using a black mat. Gorgeous!

Yummy unstuckness. I just start randomly painting colors all over or collage all over, either one works for me. xox

Super project and fantastic inspiration/tutorial. Thanks for sharing.

Strange how we all see something different in a persons piece of art especially when it’s being created. You saw a women and when you playing with the pink paint that became here, I saw a tree. Then when you added the circles the pink (tree trunk) was leaning towards the circles. This gave it the appearance, at least to me, that the tree was leaning towards the sun.

Of course, when I saw these wonderful circles, I thought they looks like wonderful worlds and floating globes! 🙂 Love it!
