What a great world where we can interpret and express in our own unique artistic ways! All 3 of the pieces in today’s post began with the same spark- the exact same image yet we ended up in 3 wonderfully different places!
Want to play along with the next spark? There’s a newsletter heading out at the end of this week with the next spark of art-spriation. You can sign up here. You can find out about the sparks here.
Can you find the common image in all 3 of these pieces of art? Click on the artist’s name to see their full post and read their thoughts as they used the spark.
There is still time to get your name in the drawing for a free spot in my latest workshop, Gelli Printing. You can enter here and learn more about the workshop here.
My muse loves it when I try to get brownie points by actually listening to her when she drops by…if I listen to her, I bet she is more likely to come and play again very soon!
My starting point was this paper with the layers on this Gelli print calling to me. My muse whispered to me to play with this one. I listened.
The heart stencil and the circles are by Julie Balzer. The cathedral stencil is from Artistcellar.
The church windows stencil from Dina Wakley called to me- so in it went! I was on a roll listening to my muse.
Here’s the whole process, including me fiddling over and over with those letters. You know what, I still want to fiddle even more with them them but I am going to have some restraint!
March’s Colorful Gelli Print Party is open all month so plenty of time for you to link up your Gelli creations. Have you had a chance to see all the great inspiration linked up? You can check it all out here.
I wish I could tell you I planned this background carefully, meticulously adding each layer. Nope. It was from a Gelli printing session. My addiction to that plate is becoming undeniable. It is a constant source of joy so I have no intention of giving it up! So much joy that it is the basis of my latest Colorful Workshop: Gelli Printing! It’s $10 off until April 1st, when class starts!
I needed a paper with some green on it- and having a stash of Gelli papers is very handy!
I grabbed an assortment of things from the garage without knowing what I wanted to do with them or where they were going. I love combining random things and seeing where it goes.
The rays on Julie Balzer’s Mayan Calendar stencil were calling out for some journaling. Using a white Stabilo Pencil I wrote “always” over and over and over. There are some things I believe I should always remember!
This month’s Color This Quote challenge is something I feel I should always remember so I wanted to work it onto this page. A bit of typing of tissue paper and the quote found a home inside the circles from Donna Downey’s Pot Holes stencil.
These metal pieces of some kind of weather stripping endured quite a bit of paint as I tried color after color trying to get the look that was in my mind. In the end, those layers built up well but it was still too plain. Rubber stamp to the rescue.
I chose this one because it reminds me of my happy place, the beach. I stamped with white paint first then a dark blue permanent ink on top.
I had such fun playing with that weather stripping that the leftovers just might have to stay in my studio instead of heading back to the garage…Don’t tell my husband!
