Step-by-step using Mary Nasser's stencil from StencilGirl Products by Carolyn Dube

Mary Nasser's stencil for StencilGirl Products

Where did my art play take me today?  Around the world with Mary Nasser’s Latitude and Longitude stencil for StencilGirl Products.

While I stayed in my studio I did end up in a very unexpected place as I played- a land of the monochromatic.  Who would have guessed that I would not use the entire rainbow.

A collage of vintage checks started me on my “trip”.  Mary’s Latitude and Longitude stencil used with modeling paste became my focal image on this canvas board.

Layers of paint and ink added here.  I let it sit for a while at this point because I loved it so much but it did seem strange to do something in only 1 color….so this is what monochromatic looks like…

Next came the words from a rubber stamp (Invoke Arts).  The one color thing still felt strange but I was still loving the monochromatic…

More words with rub-ons.  So pleased that I used up some of the stash I was hoarding.

I debated and debated about adding color but in the end I gave into my color addiction. But only a little since the color is muted…

Mary is giving away a set of all 4 of her wonderful stencils!  Just leave a comment by Oct. 4th at 11:59 pm Central time to be entered.  And you can do that on every blog in the hop. That’s a lot of chances because I had to take off my socks to count all the way up to 16!  And lots of creative blogs to check out!

Video for October's Colorful Gelli Print Party making your own texture plate with Plaid fabric paint by Carolyn Dube Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!

Let the fun begin a bit early for this month’s Colorful Gelli Print Party!  I am making texture plates on leftover cardboard for my playtime on the Gelli Plate this month.

The magic texture maker is Tulip Dimensional Paint.

Those butterflies are so consistent thanks to a great Judikins stamp.  As the color built up on the butterflies all I could think about was cutting them apart and using them in something.  No problem that I love them since I can easily make more.

Here’s a close up of the ghost print on the envelope. I can mail it, I can use it in an art journal, I could make an envelope book out of it…so many possibilities!

Step by step tag using Pam Carriker's color wheel stencil, rubber stamps, and a butterfly punch by Carolyn Dube http://stencilgirlproducts.com/stencils-6x6/view/828

I like color.  I know you are shocked since it is such a well kept secret that I like color….Well today I am playing in the stencil hop with Pam Carriker’s Primary, Secondary, Tertiary color wheel stencil for StencilGirl Products.

I started with a tag by gluing on some old writing and then randomly rubber stamping.

I added color with acrylic paint and Pam’s stencil, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary color wheel.  I am so glad this hop fell on a Friday so I could share this with my friends at Paint Party Friday!

Since I love the entire rainbow there had to be more color on this tag. In came the green and yellow acrylic paint.

I had some butterflies left over from another project (yesterday’s in fact) and what is on my counter is often exactly what I need.  A parade of colorful butterflies just made me happy!

This cried out for text but I “had nothing to say” so an old book to the rescue.  I searched around in the book for phrases that felt interesting. The 2 phrases, “tell me your wish” and “I could use my secret powers” worked so well together.  But I needed 2 words – of color.  Guess what- it is pretty tedious to actually look in a book for an exact word.  So I built color instead of looking for it forever…

Want to see more ways to use Pam’s stencils?  There is loads of inspiration in the stencil hop! And you can win one of Pam’s stencils too- just leave a comment here to be entered. Want more chances to win?  Hop on over to the other blogs and leave a comment on each one of them for more chances to win!
