On those days when I am feeling self critical, it is easy for me to think about my failures. You know those big failures like when I forgot to make a reservation at the restaurant. Or when I forgot my kid had an orthodontist appointment. I doubt I am the only one who does this…but thankfully I can play in my studio to get things turned around.
That creative time helps me put things into perspective. That helps shift my mood and makes my day a whole lot brighter.
I made these canvases as a reminder to myself to celebrate all the successes, big and small. All those small successes add up to make some very big ones over time. I’d love to know what successes (big or small) you’ve had recently so we can all give you a high five!

Ugly is a gift! Really! This canvas worked out in the end but it did have some hideously ugly stages. Truly hideous. And all that ugly was a good thing!
Ugly good? Yes! You can see what I mean over on my latest guest post, Ugly is a Gift, at CreateMixedMedia.
This month’s Colorful Gelli Print Party is all about giving high five’s and celebrating our successes…and getting paint all over our hands on the Gelli Plate!
Every day is filled with successes. It is so much easier to see the shortcomings, the struggles, and the troubles but even on the worst days there is always something worthy of a high five.
Every time I look at this patterned paper, I will be reminded to give a high five which is why I used it to make a little gift. I’ll share that video with you next week.
What did I give myself a high five for today? Taking a deep breath. I was having an argument with my computer and the computer was winning. Instead of going to irrational land, which is so easy to do when the machine is refusing to do something so simple, I took a deep breath. Actually 4 or 5 deep breaths. And that is worth celebrating!
What can you celebrate with a high five today?
