Circle Stencil Creates A Big Problem

I love getting new toys in the mail- especially stencils and especially circles- they make my heart sing right now!  This one is by Julie Balzer.  I just wanted to play- no purpose, no pressure- just play. But playing can lead to problems- and I ended up with a huge problem thanks to this stencil.

Started with a background I made long ago.

Next I stamped the coordinating circle stamp by Impression Obsession all over the page with blue ink.

Grabbed some of my current favorite colors and started stenciling acrylic paint into the circles.  I was sloppy.  I was messy.  I was having fun, until…

The problem you say?  I love how the stencil itself looks and I want to use the stencil in a journal page as an element.   But if I do that, then I don’t have the stencil anymore to use as a stencil.  Oh, the struggle.  Oh, the rough road I travel.  Oh, feel my pain!

Okay, now you did it–I have to go order the new stencils. I have put them in and taken them out of the online cart 3 times already not being able to justify getting them. you just justified me, LOL! 🙂

Carolyn, you could always cut out circles from a thick piece of scrapbook paper (card stock – I like to use the glittery pages!) and then it looks similar to a stencil, can be used as a stencil and is easy to glue in to the journal – plus you get all those small pieces that you cut out to use on another page!

The colours on your page look really vibrant and summery, I’m so glad Maria gave you a solution, I was stumped as to how you could get over the problem.
    Big love

I understand your dilemma. Your stencil looks so great now! Such things sometimes happen to me and they amount to a mini-crisis. I’m glad Maria gave you a solution. This stencil first did not appeal to me but seeing what you have done with it I think I will buy it too.

oh, I think I get it – you like how the actual stencil looks now after you have sponged paint on it and you would like to physically add it to your art journal?? hmmm . . . well, if you really can’t resist you could buy another circle stencil for stenciling and put the lovely striped painty one in your journal!! ; ^ D

Hi there! I guess you’ll have to get some more stencils. Oh dear…!

I just read your article about the artist’s tape (OK, so I’m a little late). I had a question: Which ink did you find worked best on the tape? I don’t even own a roll of it and I don’t have India inks so I wanted to ask about options before I buy more craft supplies (tee hee). I do have alcohol inks and one bottle of Liquitex Acrylic Ink. I also have two bottles of the little Tsukineko All-Purpose Inks. I wonder if that would work?

I’ve been looking for uses for my all too large collection of rubber stamps! Can’t wait to try this!

    Thanks!

how about spritzing your stencil lightly with water to “reactivate” the paint and then turn it over and “stamp” your journal page with the stencil. Does this make sense?
