Painting Circles Makes Me Happy

This week I was fortunate to have a dear friend, who has moved so very far away, stop by for a visit.  We were painting and laughing and playing and laughing when she stumbled into the happiest accident- these painty circles.  The minute we saw the first one, were were hooked.  I had been painting squares then I had to do the circles.  Love the serendipity of them.  We tried to plan what would happen a few times, but that was frustrating- so we just dipped the brushes in paint and let it be what it wanted.  I had to share this with my Paint Party Friday friends- it’s such a great group of people who are full of encouragement and creativity.  If you have a moment, go check them out!

Here’s her paint swirl that started it all.

Another circle up close.

How did she do it?  She dipped her paint brush in 3 colors, a red, a blue, and a yellow, then dragged the brush on the paper.  Drag lightly or push down.  It’s up to you.  Clean the brush after each circle or don’t.  It’s up to you.  How much of each color or where on the brush you put them determines what your circle or swoosh will look like.  Seeing how each one came out was like Christmas morning to us.

Oh these circles look wonderful! I especially love the first one, such wonderful colours, and it looks almost threedimensional! I’ve just cleaned all my brushes and put my paints away, otherwise I’d just tried them out! Happy PPF!
