Do you ever have those great scraps that you love but aren’t sure what to do with them?  This page was my scrap challenge.  The circles were left overs from die cutting.  The yellow wonky rectangles were from a strip of leftover paper.  This page took 2 months to create – it was my catch all and experimentation page.  Leftover paint on a brush went on here.  If I had a brush full of matte medium I glued something on.  If I had a scrap I’d punch something in it.  My grubby cheese cloth that I wipe my brushes on added texture.  This page was great for my soul – I didn’t waste a thing and if  I was stuck on another project a few minutes on here often nudged me forward.

First charm swap I’ve entered is done and ready to mail!  This was a “gremlin” project for me.  There were little gremlins saying the most unhelpful things in my ears while I created these.  Do you ever have those gremlins that say things like “it’s not good enough” “it won’t be just right” “how can you send these out” “that color?” and so on.  If I had  friend who talked this way to me, they wouldn’t be my friend anymore.  Well, I told the little gremlins to jump in a lake and voila – the charms got finished.  The toughest part was finding a bead or cap for the tops and bottoms of the magazine print beads and keeping it as close to 1″ long as possible.

I haven’t done many swaps, but for some reason I’m doing several right now!  These are my bird cards for a Brave Girls Swap!  Clearly, I wanted something colorful!

For the birds I wanted them raised but the paper was too thin to use pop dots or foam tape.  So, I cut fun foam in the same die cut shape.  What did people do before die cutting machines?!  Glued the thin paper to the foam and stuck it down.  It added a nice hint of pink and securely raised the birds!  The sewn strips of paper were made a while back (see post here) and I’m glad I made so many so I’d have enough for this project!
