Inspiration is often everywhere – especially when I am on a beach! The sounds of the waves, the wind, the myriad shades of blue & green. This is just a gesso’d page with watercolors, gelatos, and a black pen. Below is a photo taken from my comfy beach chair – now you know why there has been such a water/ocean theme lately…

I started reading the page I was about to paint in my journal. Certain words jumped out at me so I boxed them in with a black marker. I didn’t think about it just went with my instincts.

I used white paint around the word boxes. Once it was dry I watercolored the words in boxes.
Now I started reading the words. The ones that fit together for me at this moment got an arrow or two.
To finish it off I drew big letters with watercolor pencils. After they dried, I outlined with a black pen.

Do you ever feel like creating but just don’t know where to start? I did today! When I flipped through my art journal this page grabbed my attention. This page was pure joy because I had no idea where it was going – I just kept adding to it. Before I knew it my purple page for The Summer of Color challenge at Twinkle Twinkle was finished!
I started with textured circles.
Then I used watercolor pencils to make the circles.
I ended with black pen circles and words.
