Do you ever feel like creating but just don’t know where to start?  I did today!  When I flipped through my art journal this page grabbed my attention.  This page was pure joy because I had no idea where it was going – I just kept adding to it.   Before I knew it my purple page for The Summer of Color challenge at Twinkle Twinkle was finished!

I started with textured circles.

Then I used watercolor pencils to make the circles.

I ended with black pen circles and words.

When school ended I asked my youngest for all of her school papers.  She was very nervous – what would a parent want to do with all that work?  Art.  She had lots of papers, so I am set for quite a while.  I thought all the different inks, papers, and handwriting would make a great first layer.  Her homework and any paper within reach was fair game.  I started stitching the pages together.  Guerrilla stitching.  Nothing careful, nothing orderly.  Just sewing.

After making a giant random page of her handwriting, homework, and worksheets I went for my stencils.  Pan Pastels are new to me so I didn’t know what to expect.  Creamy goodness.  Vibrant colors.  Here is one of the quilted papers.

You can see how I used this in a journal page here.

Home Depot is filled with treasures!  While strolling through the aisles I found Easy Joint Tape.  It looks just like punchinella only it is made from paper.  Oh, how many times I have been using my Mylar punchinella and loved how the paints and inks looked on it.  Now I have disposable punchinella – less than $10 for 200 feet!  And it is self adhesive.  I feel like a little kid at Christmas!

I decided to color it using water color crayons.  I scribbled on it, spritzed with water, and swooshed a brush around.  Not only was the joint tape covered there was a great start to a background under it!
