It’s been a slave shop here getting ready for Christmas. I had this crazy idea to paint the gift boxes (okay, amazon boxes, old book boxes, any fun box I’ve found). Why bother with so much wrapping paper when I could paint them. Out came my stencils, stamps, and paint. I had boxes everywhere and I was so careful not to get paint on my shirt. I wore my apron (which I often forget). No paint, or so I thought. I ended up with paint on the side of my pants near my ankle. REALLY? Arghhh. I feel destined to have paint on every piece of clothing I own!!!
While checking out the creativity on blogs I found several people sharing their rainbow work. I was so bummed that I missed the week of color over at Daisy Yellow. Luckily, I learned she’s doing another week – so I jumped on it- especially since this is one of my favorite colors! Check out all the other chartreuse art here. I made a journal page -no real time to do the journaling today but I am able to join with Just Journals!
A little gift wrap from Target, washi tape, and a tag I had painted a long time ago made the base. It felt too plain still for my taste.
I am working on overcoming my hoarder mentality and I used my sacred glitter butterfly rub ons. Having one color to focus on limited my choices since not many rub ons are green. That limit actually made this a very easy decision – perhaps I need to explore limits more (I am sure my husband would agree).
Using Pitt pens I added some highlights to the tapes. Used a fine tip Sharpie to outline the pattern on the gift wrap just to add those little touches that make it more me.
This week has been all about Christmas for my family so I’ll share one of our traditions.
The minute I saw this tree I had to own it. Everyone needs an upside down Christmas tree. It took my hubby a bit of work to get the presents to stay at the top – we never could get the little stuffed dog (that looked just like our actual dog) to stay up there for more than a few minutes.
Why do upside down trees make sense?
1. It is so easy to decorate since the widest part is at the top. The garland is a breeze.
2. This tree does not take up as much floor space as a regular tree.
3. You don’t need a fancy tree topper (which I always struggle with finding the right one).
4. These trees are very hard to tip over.
5. It is easier to keep the dog (especially when he’s a rambunctious puppy ) away from the ornaments.
