I have been stuck lately.  Stuck.  Stuck.  Stuck.  I got tired of being stuck so I just tried something.  I dug around in my junk basket – a basket full of scraps, leftovers, and abandoned project parts.  Once I started doing I felt a little less stuck. It felt like rocket science when I was in the middle of it but now it just seems so obvious.

A background page I made long ago with gesso and who knows what to make the yellow and blue.  I tend to make backgrounds, especially when I get new supplies that way they are ready when I start a journal page.

One of Julie Balzer’s Crafter’s Workshop new stencils added a bit text to my page with orange Glimmer Mist.

Added the main elements.

She looked a bit strange without a head and arms.  Cut up a copy of a vintage photo.   The word, which so summed up how I got moving on this page, took the place of the arms.

She looked just placed on the page so I colored her hair with Peerless watercolors- so soft on the glossy photo. When I started working on the legs with the Peerless watercolors it was a different story.  The text paper was very absorbent so the color turned out so dark.  At first I didn’t like it, but I had started so I saw it through.  Turns out, I like it better darker.  Happy accident.

The “try” was just too plain. In came the Gelatos to the rescue!   The red swirl, a new punch I bought, needed more than just the red so I used my Inktense pencil to add a darker red to it.

Still felt unfinished.  A bit of fine line marker edging and scribbling to add a touch of definition.  Now I was happy.

This winter has brought very little snow.   I can’t believe how much I miss a good snowfall.  If Mother Nature won’t make snow, then I will.  Life has been extra busy with great guests and fun family happenings- so this post is a bit shorter than my usual.

Love using the die cutting machine – used Tim Holtz’s snowflake off the edge die with some sparkly wrapping paper, and Sizzix’s dream die on a scrap of paper.  The dress form was cut using my Silhouette and used as a stencil/mask. The words are from a rub on that I dearly love but can’t remember what company made it. I wish I did because I would happily buy more of them!  Had to add a bit of glitter to the word dream.  Hope you had a great weekend and are having the weather you are dreaming about!

This work in progress is brought to you by Paint Party Friday.  I have been out of town and catching up on a million things which means arting had to wait.  The thought of missing a Paint Party Friday just made me sad, so I got out the paint and started painting.  Getting messy hands made me feel so so so very good!!!  This is nowhere near finished, but I am enjoying where it is headed.

Decided to try finger paint a face.  I’m not very strong at face painting yet, so this wasn’t going the way it looked in my head.  I spent a wonderful weekend learning to draw faces, but that story is for another post…

Thought a bit of face color would help.  Not one bit- it is getting worse here.  That yellow edge is just wrong!

Got rid of the yellow and it isn’t much better.

I let go of my original plan and just start smearing paint around.  I am covering over my original mess of a face.  My goal was to hide it and start over but the bits peeking through were a nice surprise.

The canvas is covered but I decide to bring the face back.  Much happier with the face this time.  Gotta love tubes of paint that are almost empty so you can squeeze it and get splatters everywhere.

Now what?  Where do I go from here?  Turns out my muse stepped out for a Diet Coke or something.  I have been looking and looking at this trying to figure out where she wants to go next….text, she needed words.
