These stencils take me back to my time visiting churches throughout Europe- and let me escape into my art journal!  I love that modern scientists have no idea how much of the colored glass used in the old churches was made.  Such mystery!

There’s no mystery in how I put this journal page together.  I had extra black paint left on my palette so I grabbed a couple of nearby stencils from ArtistCellar.

Added creamy dreamy  Pan Pastels.

Painted some vintage ledger paper.

Painted scrap paper yellow.

Journaled whatever I was thinking/feeling- nothing deep or meaningful- just whatever was bouncing around in my head…

For this week’s Fall Fearless and Fly challenge the quote sparked this journal page.  When I am arting in the studio I can find such a calm and peaceful place inside of myself.  I can just be.  And if I can be with shiny metallics and glitter glue- all the better!

This background was made using Jessica Sporn’s Hebrew Calligrahpy and Hamsa stencil.  Ink had built up on the stencil so I used that up on the page.  That is why it was a wonderfully imperfect inking!  This stencil has a completely different look when I use is this way compared to how I used it in my last post here.  Can you see the stencil in it?

I cut out the body, inked it up, die cut the wings, added lots of silver foil and paint to them, and grabbed a head I had stamped some time ago.  At this point I realized she was either wearing a body suit or needed some kind of clothing!

Every girl needs sparkly shoes!

The words solved her clothing issue!

A scratchy frame drawn with a metallic pen and a few quick lines around the words and she is ready for the world!

A background that came about from gessoing and painting over a piece that was in need of reworking.

Wood icing used with Jessica’s Hebrew Calligraphy with Hamsa Stencil.

Once the wood icing had dried I put the stencil back on top so that the paint only went where I wanted it to go in the next step.

Using a dry brush I painted the top of the wood icing a deep blue.

I smeared paint on with my fingers.

After the last layer dried, I smeared another layer of paint.

Another touch or two of paint.  Once it was dry, I brayered on a thin layer of white paint to pop the design.

The wood icing created lots of places and spaces for the paint and color to pile up.

I was so in love with this stage that there is another piece just like this one drying in my studio.  I want one to cut up and make ATC backgrounds for another project!

I thought this piece was all finished until I read the quote.  Book paper, paint, and glitter and now I think it really is finished…
