A gelli print starts and guides an art journal page by Carolyn Dube

Jack, his magic beans, and the beanstalk all came to play in this art journal page that was sparked by a Gelli print!  I’m guesting over at Artists in Blogland today with a video of how this page developed. The beanstalk thing makes perfect sense in the video…well, maybe it just makes sense in my head…anyway, stop on over here and check it out!

Plus, there’s still time to get in on the drawing for the free spot in my latest workshop, Gelli Printing!  Details here on Friday’s giveaway.

A Spark of Art-spiration by Carolyn Dube

What a great world where we  can interpret and express in our own unique artistic ways!   All 3 of the pieces in today’s post began with the same spark- the exact same image yet we ended up in 3 wonderfully different places!

Want to play along with the next spark?  There’s a newsletter heading out at the end of this week with the next spark of art-spriation. You can sign up here.  You can find out about the sparks here.

Can you find the common image in all 3 of these pieces of art?  Click on the artist’s name to see their full post and read their thoughts as they used the spark.

Art journal page using a Gelli Print with Carolyn Dube

My muse loves it when I try to get brownie points by actually listening to her when she  drops by…if I listen to her, I bet she is more likely to come and play again very soon!

My starting point was this paper with the layers on this Gelli print calling to me.  My muse whispered to me to play with this one. I listened.

The heart stencil and the circles are by Julie Balzer.  The cathedral stencil is from Artistcellar.

The church windows stencil from Dina Wakley called to me- so in it went!  I was on a roll listening to my muse.

Here’s the whole process, including me fiddling over and over with those letters. You know what, I still want to fiddle even more with them them but I am going to have some restraint!

March’s Colorful Gelli Print Party is open all month so plenty of time for you to link up your Gelli creations. Have you had a chance to see all the great inspiration linked up?  You can check it all out here.
