Stencil Test DriveDots and Dashes stencil by Jessica Sporn for Stencil Girl Products

I’m playing with the Dots and Dashes stencil today and so are some other great creatives. Stop on by and check them all out!

I was cleaning out a cabinet, yes, I do clean sometimes but am easily distracted by things like envelopes!   I found a stash of envelopes, such perfect timing for this Stencil Test Drive!  Out came the Gelli Plate and I began playing with paints and color…still haven’t finished cleaning the whole cabinet but I do have some great envelopes now!

Update: This is the 2nd upload(actually 3rd but that is a story I’ll vent about on Facebook ) and it seems to be working correctly! My tribute to the YouTube gods worked!

Apparently I have angered the YouTube gods.  This video is getting stuck for some people and not others.  It worked fine yesterday when I watched it & on my mobile device but not on my computer this morning…so I am re uploading it.  As soon as it is up I will add it here.  Sorry about this!

See the video on YouTube here.

Why did I need to be forgiven for my “French”- this car!  I saw it at an art fair and it blew my mind. There were several expletives I just couldn’t hold in.  The details and toys on this car- the more I looked the more I saw!    A hockey rink on the hood.  Elvis performing for Barbies on the trunk.  What a car!

I came home from a day of walk through booth after wonderful booth of art and a little craft store shopping I went straight to my art journal.  I didn’t use a single paint brush while making this!  For some reason, I really wanted to avoid the paintbrush.  Matte medium is so much easier to clean up with a Catalyst blade!  I used up some old Crayola glitter glue, grabbed some scraps off the counter, played with the super amazing Posca pens, played with my sale goodies (the neon paints and washi tapes), used up some treasures (the French grammar book and the vintage calling card), but most of all I had fun.  I captured my mood in collage and color.  Do you find your mood shows up in your art?

Video tutorial for A Colorful Gelli Print Party with Carolyn Dube Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!

June’s Colorful Gelli Print Party is here!  Not just one video this month but TWO!  I couldn’t stop playing (and I didn’t want to).  A mega thanks to everyone who shared their Gelli fun with the May party!   I am inspired by all the prints and projects.  June’s party will be open all month- love to see what you’re making!

Watching Jane Davies video sparked this Gelli play.  So excited to experiment with Tulip Slick Paints(dimensional fabric paint).  Thanks Jane!

I had so much making these prints because they reminded me of the Magic Spinning Art Machine from my childhood.  Did you play with one of these as a kid?  Well, I may not be a kid but I can have as much as one playing with my Gelli Plate!

I couldn’t find the tool I needed,  that I KNEW was hiding somewhere in my studio, so I had to improvise.  Sometimes the improv works out even better and that’s what happened with this spatula from the dollar store!

Part 1 shows how I printed with the Tulip Slick Paints, a spatula, Amsterdam paints (any matte paint will do it), and of course my Gelli Plate (8×10 size)!

Part 2 shows how i used a print to make this fun card with Twinkling H2O’s and Pam Carriker’s portrait stamps!

TTim Holtz Block Talk Diehe die cut letters were made with the Block Talk die by Sizzix and Tim Holtz.  It has become my favorite alphabet because of its size- it fits cards and art journals perfectly for me.
