Gelli Printing Video for A Colorful Gelli Print Party with Carolyn Dube

Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!

You have no idea how surprised the woman was next to me when I found Velcro dots in WalMart.  I did get a bit excited about it… maybe I shouldn’t have made so much noise…Then I found some round silicon feet in a junk store.  More excitement that only Gelli platers can fully understand.   In today’s video I am turning those circles into texture tools/stamps for my Gelli Plate!

You can watch the video on YouTube here.

Why Trust is so Important in Art Declaration of You by Carolyn Dube

Week 8 of The Declaration of You’s BlogLovin’ Tour is all about trust – a word I have been exploring this year.  I chose this week for my post because trust is a powerful word for me. You can learn more about all 8 weeks of the BlogLovin’ tour here.

Declaration of You Blog Tour

When I trust my muse I am more creative.  When I don’t trust, it is not pretty.  That is when the fear takes control.

I was attempting faces and I was so caught up in worrying that I was afraid to start.  Didn’t trust that it would be okay.  I had to prove to my muse that I trusted her.  I proved my trust by just starting.

And I kept trusting, even when I drew this kindergarten style face.  That trust let it become the canvas below.

painted words

You can see all the steps in this canvas in the post Burying and Excavating a Face.

Here’s where the canvas was when I stopped.  The fear took control.   I didn’t trust my muse so I became worried.  What if I made a mistake?  What if I ruined it? What if I used the wrong color?

I apparently thought I would change the course of history if I messed it up.  What pressure. It’s no surprise this canvas sat for over a year due to this fear.

But I pulled that canvas out again once I learned a way for me to trust.  Just one little word.  Oops. You can read all about how I use Oops to trust the process in these posts:

Here’s where this canvas is at now.  What a difference trust makes.  Now this canvas feels like me, has the layers I love, and plenty of illegible journaling  all thanks to trusting my muse.

Andrew’s stencil repeats extremely well so it can make any size pattern and all the patterns work well together so this is one versatile stencil!

Here’s what the patterned paper looks like with the stamped paper under the deli paper. Such a 20’s art deco feel to me!

This was a great Oops for me- the pattern is a bit off in the top left and I love how it looks- I know what I want to try next time I play with this stencil!

Here’s what I made with the patterned deli paper and the best part is that I have a huge piece of the paper for other projects!

After the camera was off I did add a touch of white stabilo pencil to the woman.

You can win Andrew’s stencil!  And you can enter 12 times!  How do you enter? With a comment! Leave a comment on each blog in the hop and you’ll have 12 chances to win! But only one comment per blog will be eligible, but you probably figured that out already!  The winner will be selected randomly this Sunday night at 11:59pm Central time!

So on with the hop!  Next stop, Paula Phillips!
