Video using high flow paint with rubber stamps by Carolyn Dube

I’d heard about the high flow paint from Golden.  I wondered was it really that different from all my other paints?  I lucked into a sample of it and wow, was I hooked! So ordered a few more colors.   Turns out it is different from my other paints.

Why? Because it is like an ink and a paint at the same time.  The ink aspect of it lets it be stamped very easily with very little clean up.  The acrylic paint aspect of it lets the colors be mixable, vibrant, and rich.  As a bonus it dries very quickly too which is a big deal for me, the patience impaired….

Here’s a quick video showing how I used high flow paints with rubber stamps from Judikins.

Carolyn Dube 3 Simple Ways to Thwart the Inner Critic

The project I mentioned in the video, well here it is!  I’ve got a new newsletter and a thank you video and pdf (both downloadable!) for my newsletter subscribers.

The behind the scene adventures of switching to a new email provider involved more than I had expected but isn’t that how computer things tend to go?  My current newsletter subscribers will need to join in on this too in order to keep receiving my Sparks of Art-spiration and newsletters. There was no way around this and believe me I tried!  I offered the computer elves every possible bribe but they held firm…The good news is that everyone can get the downloadable video and pdf right away!

Video tutorial using the round Gelli Plate with a stencil with Carolyn Dube

Life has been busy.  So busy it has been tough to get my dose of studio time.  I have learned that if don’t get my art time I become a bit cranky… and I don’t want cranky heading into the holidays.

Corrine Gilman reminded me that art can fit even in the busiest of days.  She did it by going small.  I did it by giving myself permission to just make one print with no pressure. It doesn’t matter how we all get our creative time as long as we get it!

You can watch Round Gelli Plate with a Round Stencil on YouTube here.  The stencil I used is called Stitch a Greek Medallion.

That 3 minute creativity break gave me just the boost I needed to put the finishing touches on my computer project. What have I been working on so intently?

I have now upgraded my Colorful Workshop: Gelli Printing to a fully downloadable workshop and added a secret Facebook group.  And on top of that I have added a bonus video to the workshop showing how to make large sheets of gift wrap out of Gelli prints.  I have been busy wrapping gifts for the upcoming holidays and using Gelli prints to do it so I filmed the making of one large sheet of my homemade wrapping paper.

And to celebrate all these new improvements to the workshop, it is $10 off until Tuesday, December 3rd.  You can find all the details for A Colorful Workshop Gelli Printing here.

I was blown away by all the comments on the round Gelli Plate giveaway!  Thanks to random.org  the winner of the round Gelli Plate is….Debby Ebelling!   Debby I’ve sent you an email so just send me your snail mail address and I’ll get this in the mail to you!

Sorry the comments were turned off- no clue why the elves did it for this post but I now have it turned on…

Video of Carolyn Dube playing in her art journal with a stencil

It takes courage to play.  Kids have it mastered.  But as an adult I had to relearn how to do it.  The place where I play the most? My art journal.  The camera was running as I made this page while I was thinking about how much courage it can take to play (and how valuable that play is)!

This video also shows one of the many uses for the Use Your Words stencil I designed. Not only can I use the entire stencil but I can isolate individual words to make the statement that I want.

You can watch Courage to Play in an Art Journal on YouTube here.

How do you play?
