Video Using a Stencil on a Canvas for Michelle Ward's Blog Hop for StencilGirl by Carolyn Dube

I am a huge fan of Michelle Ward!  Not only does she have the most amazing sense of design-  she is a wonderful teacher.   If you ever have the opportunity to take a class with her, do it!  You can imagine my excitement when I heard she created 8 new stencils and a blog hop!

As I looked at her Segments Stencil from StencilGirl, I decided to play and stencil on a canvas.  I treated the canvas just like an art journal. Same techniques.  Same fun.

Today’s play started with a little pen work while watching TV.   I traced only parts of it.  By tracing with a pen, a waterproof pen by the way, it opens up so many options for using only some lines and shapes in a stencil.

In the video, I show you how I colored these in and how I outsmarted the inner critic who tried to bully me into not creating.

Video tutorial on making random and repeating patterns with a stencil for Stencil Week by Carolyn Dube Stencil videos and giveaways during Stencil Week with Carolyn Dube

Welcome to day 4 of Stencil Week!  Play is so very important to me and for more than just the fun.  I learn when I play.  Learning that only happens when I let the paint take me where it will take me.

I was playing around making some tags as colorful organizers for on my Clip It Up .   Just playing around not knowing where it would go.  WOW! It took me to a whole new place all because I don’t like to clean!

But I do show you in the video an easy way of cleaning a stencil with dried paint, actually weeks of dried paint on it.  But I am going to go right back to filling that stencil in with paint because I so love the effect- might even try it on some others…
