May’s Colorful Gelli Print Party!

Video and Link Party for May's Colorful Gelli Print Party with Carolyn Dube

Join me for a Colorful Gelli Print Party!

Welcome to May’s Colorful Gelli Print Party!  The old layers of paint on an abandoned building inspired me.  I wanted to capture the build up of colors and layers.    Oh, and I wanted shimmer and shine too.

So out came the Catalyst blade tool (#5 size 15)Amsterdam paints  and the Golden gold paint I had been hoarding.  Photographing the gold was an adventure but I captured bits of the veins of it in the photo above.  In person- it adds such a magical touch- now if I could get my camera to capture it…

I was blown away by all the amazing creativity that was shared in last month’s link party!  You can check out April’s party here.   My apologies about the video last month- something went wrong with the file and it was unable to upload when I tried it again and again throughout the month.  Technology is great when it works…

On to this month’s party!  It is open all month!

Link up your Gelli Plate blog posts, flickr photos, YouTube videos – it is all welcome!  New posts or recent posts are welcome!

  • Link to a specific blog post or flickr page or YouTube video that way people can easily find your Gelli goodness.
  • Add a link back to the party so others can join us too!
  • Leave a comment on at least 2 other links from the party.  You know how  comments encourage us creative types!
  • Participate as many times as you want- just be sure it relates to the Gelli Plate.

I am amazed at the versatility you can get by layering like you did in all your examples and in everything you do. Soon you will need a gelli room – did I say full body prints? xox

  • Terrie Lutz April 30, 2013, 2:45 pm

I love watching your videos. I had to laugh when you are showing the ghost print and trying to show the flex of gold I was saying
look at the gold I can see it. Like you can hear me.

  • Leslie April 30, 2013, 2:47 pm

Boy, do I love my gelli plate. It just never gets old, pulling that paper off, wondering what it’s gonna look like. I haven’t tried any sparkly stuff yet but love yours so that’ll be next…

  • Judy Shea April 30, 2013, 4:19 pm

Carolyn… I’ve been on a whirlwind lately around my house and to sit and watch this was so refreshing. I can’t wait to get my Gelli Plate back out again… soon. Great layers and the shimmer.. oh my!

  • Anna Ely April 30, 2013, 5:06 pm

Love the ghost print you pulled in this video! That would definitely be one that I would be scanning so that I could use it in other projects.
Can’t wait to check out everyone else’s link to see what they have been up to!

Just a great tutorial, Carolyn, showing what can be done by *not* painting the who plate! Magnificent results–especially with the Golden Gold!!

  • Gail April 30, 2013, 6:28 pm

Love. Love. Love. I did some with hints of metallic shimmer a while back and loved the glimmer it added to the overall print. Did I say I love yours? lol

  • Marsha May 13, 2013, 10:18 am

I linked to a blog post about where I used my gelli plate with PDF cotton instead of paper, used many layers, then finally used a pre-inked deer stencil(a la Linda Germain technique), and made fabric postcards. Finished off with trapunto and free motion quilting. My mom loves these postcards but she doesn’t know yet that she is getting one as a Mother’s Day card!!

  • Julie G. May 13, 2013, 11:30 am

I made some wrapping paper using my Gelli Plate…really need to get the largest GP LOL…but it was a lot of fun and I love how the gift turned out.

  • Beverly G May 21, 2013, 9:30 pm
