Stencils + a Gelli Plate = Fun

I pulled out my paints for some Paint Party Friday fun and the Gelli Plate was in my hands before I knew what I was doing.  If felt so good to let go of control and just play with no pressure.  Trying this paint & that stencil and seeing what was revealed washed away all the stress and yuck of the week.

If you have never used a Gelli Plate, this video will show you everything you need to be creatively dangerous with it!

This video shows how I used various stencils by Julie Balzer.  So addictive!

The ghostie prints are so much fun. I especially love the one with the yuck paper turning into yum paper. I need to do some more playing with mine I think. Time to get some Julie stencils and more Stencil Girl ones too! Thanks for your sweet videos teach! xox

I’m saving my money and hopefully will be able to buy one of those gelli plates by 2018 (grin). Love your results, although I am still unable to see your videos. I think it’s because of my browser. Firefox and YouTube don’t like each other. These are GRRRRRRRRRREAT, though!!

Thank you so much Carolyn! I always join your videos! Thanks so much for sharing with us! Cause it´s not easy to get the plate here in Austria I made some experiments with a glass-plate and with Styrofoamplates of meatpackaging . And it works not bad I can tell.
I don´t have the comparison to the Gelli Plate ..I think it will be much easier with this cool plate … and whe I see to order it in an european online shop I will do it ! I heard about making your own plate with gelatine..but I don´t want to try this…

    xxx Happy PPF!

Oh Carolyn, thanks so much for sharing these videos! LOVE it! I’m going to give this to myself as a Christmas present … 🙂

  • denthe November 10, 2012, 1:29 am

Just thinking about something: have you used this on stretched canvas already? Kind of curious about the outcome ….

    • Carolyn November 10, 2012, 2:28 pm

Haven’t tried it on canvas yet but it did work on denim. I did find I needed a bit more paint for the denim than I did for paper.

  • Anne November 10, 2012, 8:49 am

Evil! Here we are 44 days until Christmas, two weeks until Thanksgiving, need to be getting our shopping done, and making trips to the post office, and you go showing us all this fun and artsy goodness.
If I get one of these the next thing you know it will be Pop Tarts for Thanksgiving dinner and I will be doing my holiday shopping the night before at a convenience store.

    • Carolyn November 10, 2012, 4:52 pm

I hadn’t thought of Pop Tarts for Thanksgiving- genius! And the always want me to buy them junk at the big convenience truck stop/stores when we are traveling- so you’ve just made it so I can go play some more! Thanks!
