Travel Journal Part 1

“Mom, would you make a journal for my trip to Mexico?”  Gee, let me think, YES! It was a rush job to get her journal and ones for our other friends on the trip, but I got it done!  I’ll put together a tutorial on the mechanics later in the week.

The journals all begin as old library books.

I start with stacks of various types of things to insert into the book.  Tags, pages to write on, money envelopes, die cuts, scraps, plastic pockets, mini file folders, really, anything I have on hand.  Since my daughter is prolific writer I made sure she had plenty of places to write. The bumpier things tend to go in the beginning so it is easier/smoother to write on the later pages.

  • There are several more parts to this – I really loved making these. Hopefully I’ll have the next part up on Friday.

  • What a wonderful journal! It’s already filled with fun and interesting things. nancy

  • ohhh, I love this!! I was thinking about my niece’s upcoming bridal shower and was thinking, “I want to give her something different!”… memorable, useful… I think my daughters and I will make her a journal like this, along with some items to use and write about… newlywed type things… *wink, wink* and hopefully not embarrass her (or my daughters!) too much!!
