The plan: A wonderful holiday piece of art to let everyone know how much I have appreciated their comments, community, and creativity during the year.
Reality: I spent way too long running errands, a little time wrapping gifts, and spent the bulk of the afternoon visiting with my great aunt. I was so tired and worn out that my inner critic was running full steam ahead and I had little energy to combat her. Does anyone else feel that way this close to Christmas?
The solution: Intuitive painting for Paint Party Friday. I’m new to it, but I think I’m hooked. I just let the paint wash away the stress and my mind focused on the joys around me. After I finished with the paint I stepped back and saw fish- so a few quick white lines and I had fish. It isn’t holiday themed. It isn’t perfect. It is just what I needed. I wish you a happy, safe, healthy, relaxing, love-filled holiday!
And by golly its fish. Lovely
wow wow wow…this is so creative …great inspiration…ie…i wanna try something like this…merry christmas to you and your loved ones…xxx
This turned out perfectly. I was lucky enough to attend a 3 day workshop with Flora Bowley to learn her techniques for intuitive painting. It really is quite liberating.
Lovely one!!
Happy Holidays!
Your reality sounds pretty similar to mine (minus the great aunt part!) I love the idea of intuitive painting and I love how you saw fish – it looks like a perfect coral reef scene and a lovely antidote to the cold, grey Irish winter we’re having!
Happy holidays
Painting is all about what you feel. So if you felt like fish that’s just perfect. 🙂 Happy Holidays! 🙂
Awww…love the fish! Happy Fishmas to you too!! 😉
I love how the little fish magically appeared with a few white lines! This is so cheerful and fun!
Love the colours and movement! Valerie
I’m definitely with you as to “reality” (again except for the great aunt part)!
So good you got to paint and your intuitive fishies are great.
Hope you and yours have a great Christmas! (Fishmas!)
Merry Fishmas! And Happy Stew Year. 🙂
What a wonderful way to unwind, Carolyn. Your painting is bright and cheerful and I saw the fish even before you added the white lines. Have a happy Christmas!
Great way to relax. Nice job. Happy Holidays!
Love the colors in this piece! It feels light, happy and safe.

Happy new 2012!
reality is all a bit much for me at the moment and my inner critic seems to have moved in…. going to get in and work like a mad thing here this morning, then unwind this afternoon with a little paint to try to get ready mentally for the onslaught… hope it all settles down and that you have a most wonderful holiday season filled with so many good things…xx
Love the story of your creation, truly inspired! Great job, nice colours.
I just started this type of painting too, love it! And I do tend to feel frantic this time of year.
Oh, the piece came alive with the fishes – wonderful!
Have a great Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

And a merry, merry fishmas to you!
I saw a couple fishy shapes right away in the first picture, too. But then I’ve had fish since I was nine–LOL! Loved how the fish emerged for you…for us. 🙂
Looks like fun! A blessed Christmas to you and your family! Patsy from HeARTworks
Ohhh I like the fish. The colors are bright and fresh and do take away the stress.
