I love fibers. I really love fibers, especially this one. No idea how you’d knit or crochet with it (or any fiber for that matter). I put a layer of gesso down on a book page & set the fiber in it. Then a gentle brush of gesso on top (really I was just using my paint brush to push it down well). A bit of water color and it is ready for journaling.
Confession time: I don’t journal regularly. I make the pages and give them as gifts. I love journals, but the writing part I don’t do as much. So, I dove in and journaled a few things that happened recently. One of those things was when I had a playlist by my daughter’s favorite band, Panic and the Disco. When she heard it she came running. Later, when she was checking out photos on my camera she saw the page with Panic at the Disco in bold letters. She came running to see the actual page in my journal. Now I know how to get her attention- Panic at the Disco! Linking up with Art Every Day Month and Just Journals.
I love the colors and the soothing movement of the shapes! You look like you are enjoying this month!
I absolutely love your work and your blog. I can relate to so much of what you say about process and colour. Please drop my blog and see if we couldn’t have been separated at birth lol.
I’m not a great journal writer either but I can see why you’d want to with this idea – it’s fantastic! I love your use of the yarn to make lines to write between/on. Might just steal this one!
So that’s fiber? Very pretty–I thought you had drawn and/or painted it at first. And the watercolors and text peeking through…really nice!
THis looks great with the fibers….love the colors too. THanks for coming by my blog!!!
I completely thought you had painted .. and read your blog and was fascinated. I may have to experiment with this… thank you so much for sharing this!!!
I love these pages!
Very cool pages. I like the use of fibers in journals. I have that same yarn. 🙂 I love Panic at the Disco. Thanks for linking to Just Journals.
I never thought of gluing down ribbons or other flosses or yarns for texture. Nice!! Lovely look…and glad it caught your daughter’s attention–LOL! 😉
I thought you had painted it… what amazing fibres, they look like they were made for mixed media work don’t they xx
What a cool effect! Love the colors!
These fibers look fabulous! First glance, I thought they had been drawn on, but even better with texture.
Thanks for sharing these colorful pages — what a great idea to use the fiber — it’s really fun. I love how you’ve done different things with it on each page.
These are great! they have a fun, graphic feel to them.
