Fitting Art into a Busy Life

Video tutorial using the round Gelli Plate with a stencil with Carolyn Dube

Life has been busy.  So busy it has been tough to get my dose of studio time.  I have learned that if don’t get my art time I become a bit cranky… and I don’t want cranky heading into the holidays.

Corrine Gilman reminded me that art can fit even in the busiest of days.  She did it by going small.  I did it by giving myself permission to just make one print with no pressure. It doesn’t matter how we all get our creative time as long as we get it!

You can watch Round Gelli Plate with a Round Stencil on YouTube here.  The stencil I used is called Stitch a Greek Medallion.

That 3 minute creativity break gave me just the boost I needed to put the finishing touches on my computer project. What have I been working on so intently?

I have now upgraded my Colorful Workshop: Gelli Printing to a fully downloadable workshop and added a secret Facebook group.  And on top of that I have added a bonus video to the workshop showing how to make large sheets of gift wrap out of Gelli prints.  I have been busy wrapping gifts for the upcoming holidays and using Gelli prints to do it so I filmed the making of one large sheet of my homemade wrapping paper.

And to celebrate all these new improvements to the workshop, it is $10 off until Tuesday, December 3rd.  You can find all the details for A Colorful Workshop Gelli Printing here.

So good to make that time… and like you said, it’s waiting for you when you have more time to play. Congrats on all the techy-advances!!

Congrats to Debby as the big winner here! And, to you, Carolyn, thanks for continuing to gently nudge us to try something new, to work outside of what we continually create over and over–that comfort zone! This week, I am being Grandma Extraordinaire! On Saturday, I am getting out my oh-so-square Gelli plate! 😉

I think I need to grab an art journal and play. It’s always been a great way for me to get unstuck!
